Absolute Conflict: Capsules
Absolute Conflict: Capsules
Who will reign supreme between Timothy of the Yellowjackets, Lord Peasant of the Southern Uprising, and Henrietta of the Bluejays, a ferocious warrior of the North that has bested countless frosts and eclipses to earn her right as First Jarless?
Limbs will be imaginarily torn apart, blood will be delicately retextured atop intensely graphic and photo-realistic models in this exciting new RTS the likes of which have never been seen before!
A student project exploring AI and shaders
The goal of this project was to explore creating semi-competent AI and have it play against itself - as such, there is very little you need to do, as the player.
The start screen sees you drag and drop units into the world in any formation you wish - don't worry if the soldiers fall over when you place them on top of another unit; it's just the calm before the storm, and they get back up once it's time to fight.
During the game you can select a unit (any unit) and right click to give it a command - go somewhere, or target this enemy unit. Be careful, if that unit is already engaged in intense, life-like battle, it might not hear the command and decide to ignore it!
Very indie inspirations
You may have heard of a small indie game called Total War (they made a few over the years, as they are a very focused and small passion-project oriented team) - well, to your obvious surprise it was my main source of inspiration here.
I usually set off on projects with a clear idea in mind of what I want to create - in this case, I'm not so sure I managed it quite as well as I would have liked. The AI is a bit... simple, and you might have to guide it occasionally in battles where it's just chilling on the side while the rest of its allies are getting hammered.
That being said, it was an all around fun project to do and I hope you can have a few laughs imagining massive Minion-based battles in glorious 3D!
